Elder-Jones’ longstanding, successful relationship with Buckle proved to be very beneficial on our latest project with them. The nature of the over 5,700 square foot space in the Capital Mall in Olympia, Washington, led itself to a few challenges that the Elder-Jones and Buckle teams were able to work together to solve successfully. The project started off with demolishing three old stores to combine into one space for Buckle’s new store. During demo, asbestos was discovered and proper mitigation was deployed by both teams to remove it safely. This mall is unique in that it is an all wood structure, so the team had to tackle the challenge of connecting structural steel to the wood structure of the mall. The steel supported the store’s two main sales area features for the project, the storefront and an archway in the middle of the sales floor. Despite the challenges, we were able to turn over a beautiful new store to the Buckle team, and are so grateful for a strong working relationship with them to make project like this such a success!
